About Me—

Visual Designer & Art Director based in NYC

Hey There!

I'm Sam. I do a lot of things, but for the most part, I just make things look pretty with my laptop. When not in a pandemic, I also produce live events all around the country.

Problem Solver

Event producing is practically synonymous with problem solving. After 7 years of it, I'd say I'm pretty good at putting out fires.

Critical Thinker

In design, critical thinking shows in every move you make. Without it, all you've got is a mess of shapes, color, and text on a page.

Logically minded

With a background in arts administration, I understand the importance of a logical approach.

Who is Sam?

Like so many others, I am the direct product of my upbringing. With business owners on one side of the family and loyal patrons of the arts on the other, it's no surprise to have found myself at the intersection of art and commerce in my professional life as well.

Since I was 15 years old, I've worked professionally in theatre & event production as well as graphic design. From my humble beginnings designing and printing t-shirts in my basement to where I am now, I've always created opportunities for myself rather than wait for my seat at the table.

In my 7 years of working in the arts I've started two businesses, produced 10+ shows, gone on tour twice, freelanced for 50+ companies, printed nearly 10,000 t-shirts, and somehow managed to graduate college on time.

Everything I've accomplished in those 7 years can be linked back to that stubborn, impatient 15-year-old that refused to settle.

Though my primary focus in college was theatre and event production, I never stopped practicing my design skills. Whether a favor for a friend or a poorly paying side-hustle, I always had something to work on.

As it happens in the wonderful world of freelancing, one project led to another, and another, and so on and so forth. Along the way, I picked up skills in web design, video editing, and a little bit of motion graphics— all of which have allowed me to push the limits of what I thought I could do with my designs.

To sum up this not-so-top-level overview, I'm a 22-year-old producer & designer working in entertainment, theatre, and social activism. I may be a little too ambitious for my own good — but hey, life's too short to wait for opportunity to come knocking.

work life

My relationship with work is a bit out of the ordinary for someone my age... To put it simply, I love it, and have for quite a long time. Moreover, I'm a big proponent of learning-by-doing, so age has never been a barrier to entry for me. I launched my first business — a screen printing and design company — at the age of 15. Perhaps a bit overambitious in retrospect, I founded a not-for-profit organization just a few months later. Shortly after moving to NYC in late 2016, I began working professionally as the producer of a Broadway web-series and have worked consistently as a freelance producer, general manager, and web/graphic designer ever since. It's certainly a lot to juggle at times, but I wouldn't trade this chaotic life for the world.

Freelance Producer & Designer

September 2016 ─ Present
As a freelance producer & designer working in NYC for the past 4 years, I've gotten the chance to work with some amazing groups of people. Select commercial work includes: HeadCount, Sony, Bank of America, Norwegian Cruise Lines, MGM Resorts, and Proctor & Gamble. Whenever possible, I donate a large chunk of time to social justice causes that are close to my heart. Not-for-profit work includes: March For Our Lives, Change the Ref, and The Educational Theatre Foundation.

Co-Founder & Producer, Metropolitan Youth Theatre

November 2013 ─ May 2017
Metropolitan Youth Theatre was the first entirely youth-run non-profit theatre company in Northern Virginia. Our full-season programming enabled students in the D.C. Metro area to explore all facets of theatrical production on their own terms and show the world what young artists are truly capable of when given the opportunity.

President & Owner, Allied.Ink

September 2013 ─ September 2019
Allied Ink, LLC is a full-service screen printing and apparel design company serving the Washington D.C. Metro Area. As president & owner of Allied Ink, I oversaw all aspects of company operation, development, and production.
